    Sex - Sexually Transmitted Diseases

If you are sexually active beware of these importing crucial facts:

    1. If you are or want to become pregnant, be certain you are examined and tested for STDs (sexually transmitted diseases) to make sure you and your future children stay healthy. Don't treat sex casually. It is usually safe to have sex with only one partner who is having sex with you only.
    2. Talk to your partner about STDs. Be sure that you and your sex partner have no signs of STDs and do not use drugs. Remember, however, STDs often do not cause visible symptoms. Uninfected partners who are absolutely certain that they are mutually faithful and who do not inject drugs with needles are not at risk for STDs, including AIDS.
    3. Even if you have no symptoms of STD, you should have a medical check up at least once a year to make sure you do not have an infection or other problems.
    4. If you are having sex with more than one person, or if your partner does, don't take chances; protect yourself. Use latex condoms every time you have sex, even if you're using another form of birth control method. If you use a lubricant, make sure it is water-based(like K-Y jelly). Oil-based lubricants (like Vaseline), can damage condoms.
    5. If you or your partner have an STD, or one of you thinks about STD, don't put off doing something about it. Even if the symptoms go away, you may still be infected, go to your doctor or the local health department for testing and treatment. Urge your partner(s) to do the same. Do not have sex until you and/or your partner(s) have been tested and are considered cured. Failure to take appropriate action soon may have severe and lasting consequences.
    6. Anything else, let us know.
